This engine requires 10 quarts (with filter) for an oil change.  GM recommends the use of  15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine Oil, or the Series 3000 Synthetic Heavy Duty 5W-30 Diesel Oil for superior engine care and performance.  Both oils provide an extended drain interval warranty of 25,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.  AMSOIL has recently engineered a new Premium 5W-40 Diesel Oil for the new 2007 diesels which exceed modern spec's for emission quality.  If you prefer a synthetic blend, check out, AMSOIL's 15W-40 Diesel Oil.

OIL FILTER, BY-PASS, & DUAL REMOTE FILTRATION 

AMSOIL's Oil filter  (EaO-52) will also provide the same extended drain interval of 25,000 miles or 1 year. 
Virtually eliminate engine wear with an AMSOIL filtration system.  For all Duramax 6.6L Diesels, choose the By-Pass Filter Mounting Kit (BMK-11), additionally, you need a BK-1201 and BK-1202 billet oil fill cap, a BP-242 elbow, EaBP-100 and EaO-26 oil filters.  Also, the Dual Remote Oil Filtration Kit (BMK-17Ea). The BMK-17Ea is a complete system with filters and easy to install.

FLUSH

If this is your first use of AMSOIL, we recommend you use the AMSOIL Flush to clean the engine prior to using AMSOIL (you will need 2 cans).

FUEL ADDITIVES

AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate fuel additive improves fuel economy, cleans dirty injectors and restores horsepower.  Treats 100 gallons.  AMSOIL Cetane Boost fuel additive improves combustion efficiency.  Raises cetane 3-7 numbers.  For improved low-temp starting, fuel ignition quality.  Treats 200 gallons.  Diesel Cold Flow Improver is recommended for low temperature applications below 40°F.

AMSOIL carries the BOSCH MicroEdge Excel Wipers.  Your truck should require 22" blades (B40922). 

TRANSMISSION

AMSOIL's  Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid is recommended for this automatic transmission.  Delivers maximum protection and is excellent in demanding environments such as towing, hauling or commercial use. Improves efficiency and typically reduces operating temperatures by as much as 50°F.

AMSOIL also recommends Torque-Drive Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid.  Replaces Allison/Castrol Transynd fluid.  Excellent protection in temperature extremes.  Ensures consistent smooth clutch engagement over the life of the fluid and controls clutch glazing and elongated shift times.
