Working in conjunction with the engine’s full-flow oil filter, the AMSOIL By-Pass Filter operates by filtering oil on a “partial-flow” basis. It draws approximately 10 percent of the oil pump’s capacity at any one time and traps the extremely small, wear-causing contaminants and water that full-flow filters can’t remove. Virtually Eliminate Engine Wear with ByPass Oil Filtration
These systems simply provide the ultimate wear protection to your engine and engine components. The installation process is rather simple and could be accomplished in a couple of hours by someone mechanically minded. There may seem like AMSOIL offers alot of different by-pass systems to choose from, but there are really just two easy choices for your vehicle (Just one choice if you don't have a spin-on filter). What is meant by "By-Pass filtration"? By-Pass filtration is a secondary oil filtering system that by-passes the existing oil filter, taking oil from the oil pressure sending unit to a remote filter(s), then returning clean oil back to the engine through the oil filler cap (see the diagram above). AMSOIL has two (2) different By-Pass filtration systems: The By-Pass Filter Mounting Kit (BMK-21) is for engines with sump capacities of less than 15 quarts and involves only one AMSOIL EaBP filter (details below). The Dual-Gard Mount (BMK-22) is for engines with sump capacities of 15 quarts or more and involves two EaBP filters (details below).

By-Pass Filter Mounting Kit (BMK-21) Understand that this is an additional filtering system and does not replace the existing diesel oil filter. The BMK-21 refers to the entire kit of bushings, bolts, hoses, etc...needed to run hoses to & from the filter mount. A tee comes off the oil pressure sending unit, or other oil pressure port, to send oil to the filter mount. The mount can be affixed to the firewall, fender well, radiator support, or frame. The oil then returns filtered to the engine at the valve cover or to the oil filler cap. This kit (BMK-11) does not come with the filter. There are three (3) filters and the choice of your filter is easy. The EaBP-90 is a 6" long filter for diesels with sump capacities less than 9 quarts, the EaBP-100 is an 8" filter for 15 qt. oil capacities, and the EaBP-110 (10" long) filter for sump capacities greater than 21 quarts. There are special caps & elbows that make installs easier on 2003 & later Ford 6.0L, 2004 & later Dodge, and GM 6.6L Duramax. Click on your engine & look under By-Pass for special items.

Dual-Gard Mount (BMK-22) (For 15 quart or larger sump capacity diesel engines) Like the BMK-21, the BMK-22 is an additional filtering system to work in conjunction with the existing diesel oil filter. The Dual-Gard Mount is sold without the hoses, due to the many mounting configurations. AMSOIL sells hoses or you can get them yourself. The BMK-22 still includes the mounting bracket, filter mount, bolts, plugs, adapters, etc..you'll need for the rest of the install. The mounting bracket swivels 180 making it easy to access to filters. The hose to the filter mount comes from the oil supply and there are usually several easy areas to access. There are normally openings in the side of the block and in the area of the existing oil filter or if all else fails, use the oil sending unit port with a tee (only 10% pressure loss would be insignificant). The newly filtered oil will return to the oil pan. Most engines have an oil return opening in the crankcase wall or oil pan. Here, the three (3) filters are doubled as such: (2) EaBP-90 for sump capacities from 15-18 quarts, the EaBP-100 from 15-30 quarts, and the EaBP-110 for 15-42 quarts.

Remote Oil Filtration
Another very efficient filtering system is Dual Remote Oil Filtration (BMK-23). This is a very easy install and highly recommended for a hard-working diesel. This kit replaces your existing spin-on oil filter with a special mount that connects two hoses (oil supply & return line) to a remote two filter mount. The BMK-14 is a single remote system with only one Ea filter.
